Gnomon Gallery/Rabbit Holes 3D Hologram Art

The Gnomon Workshop has been the leading edge when it comes to training, and teaching art. Personally, I find that the instructors are extremely informative and helpful. Recently I came to find this video that spoke of hologram 3D art. Though I have never been to the gallery myself, I know that this is a great step forward for the 3D, and art communities.

It’s interesting to note the way that people perceive these pieces. I noticed several people dancing in front of the pictures, trying to see more. One piece in particular titled; Nape of the Neck, had the viewers longing to see the other side of her. I think that this is relative to the way that people want more and more of art. I also think that people are ready for an awakening (if you will) in the art world. Let me just say that I fully support rabbit holes, and I look forward to taking this technology further along!

Sensory Overload

ok, so in my time based media class we are doing a project called Sensory Overload. The point of this is to take an experience that we have not done in a long time, and relay the thoughts, smells, emotions etc. through a video. The twist is that we are to make a story out of what we experienced.

For me, the experience was hunting. I hadn’t hunted in a long time, so I figured that it would feel rather new to me, and it did! I wrote an extensive summery about what I smelled, felt, and saw.

We were to use only pictures to portray our story. We were also required to evaluate pacing, theme, and other important factors in a story.

The limitations: no more than 20 seconds long, must contain text, and you must make your own music for it (no software sounds, or pre-made sounds).

Well, the votes are in, and it looks like Obama is the man of the hour. Let me be the first to say, thank God that’s over! I can’t remember the last time that I saw a regular commercial. I mean, one that has nothing to do with politics, or bashing other parties. I think in the end, the election came down to charisma. Obama appealed to the youth, and the middle class, which made him really popular. Rightfully so though, the guy can speak I’ll give him that. But talking and doing are two different things.

My hope is that America will see its potential as a nation, and join together, not just to make war, or fight wars, but to truely be a nation of peace and prosperity. I also think that’s why Obamas slogan was so imperative to his victory. All of our lives we hear people tell us that we can’t, even our own minds sometimes tell us this. So for someone to have the nerve to go against the grain and tell us that we can, I think really inspired a lot of people to place hope in themselves, and the nation.

I guess in the end, it will be interesting to see how this all pans out! I know that America is great, but we can be greater together, united. Regardless of who is president.
